The Hyundai Creta has established itself as one of the most popular midsize SUVs in India. Now, Hyundai is reportedly working on a new-generation version that could bring significant changes to the SUV's styling, technology, and safety features.

Recent spy images and renders have provided an early look at what could be a much more futuristic Creta. From a redesigned front profile to a technology-focused cabin, the upcoming model is expected to receive several major updates.

A completely new and futuristic front design

The biggest visual changes are expected at the front. The next-generation Creta could adopt a more modern design with a black pixel-style grille and distinctive T-shaped LED daytime running lights.

The main headlamps are expected to be smaller and could be positioned lower on the front bumper. The front section may also feature a larger air dam, a parking camera, and four parking sensors.

The lower portion of the bumper could receive additional pixel-inspired styling, while sharp lines on the bonnet are expected to give the SUV a wider and more muscular appearance.

Side profile could get sharper styling

The changes are not expected to be limited to the front. The side profile could feature large diamond-cut alloy wheels with a dual-tone finish and a distinctive design pattern.

The wheel arches may receive thick protective cladding, while sharper character lines and large windows could give the SUV a more substantial appearance. An integrated roof spoiler could further enhance its sporty look.

At the rear, the new Creta is expected to adopt a cleaner but more rugged design. Connected LED tail lamps with pixel-inspired elements could be joined by a black panel on the tailgate.

The rear bumper is also expected to receive a more muscular design to complement the SUV's updated appearance.

Cabin to get a major technology upgrade

The interior could see an even bigger transformation. The new Creta is expected to feature a more modern cabin with a larger free-standing touchscreen replacing the current dual-screen arrangement.

A slimmer digital instrument cluster could also be introduced, giving the dashboard a cleaner appearance.

One of the biggest technology additions could be Hyundai's Pleos Connect system. It is expected to support over-the-air software updates, various applications, and Hyundai's AI-based Gleo voice assistant.

The new Creta could also receive an improved Level 2 ADAS package. Other safety equipment such as multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and a 360-degree camera are expected to continue.

Existing engines could continue

Despite the major design and technology changes, the engine lineup may not see a significant transformation initially.

The existing 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces around 113 bhp and 144 Nm of torque and could continue with a 6-speed manual and iVT automatic transmission.

The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine could also be carried forward. It produces around 158 bhp and 253 Nm and is paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine, which produces approximately 114 bhp and 250 Nm, could also continue in the lineup.

Strong hybrid could be the biggest future change

Hyundai is also reportedly working on a strong-hybrid powertrain for the Creta. The hybrid version could eventually play a bigger role in the lineup and may replace the diesel option in the future.

If these expected updates make it into production, the next-generation Hyundai Creta could bring a significantly more futuristic design, smarter technology, improved safety features, and multiple powertrain choices to the midsize SUV segment.
