The incident took place in Baradhi village of Mufussil police station area. The deceased has been identified as Shailendra Kumar Singh, who was handicapped in one leg. According to the family members, Shailendra was having a love affair with a married woman of the same village, Ragini Mishra, for a long time . It is alleged that on Saturday midnight the woman called him and invited him to her house. Trusting in her love, Shailendra reached her house without any apprehension, but he did not know that he would face death there.

It is reported that as soon as Shailendra entered the woman's room, her husband, Daddu Mishra, and other family members caught him red-handed. Being disabled, Shailendra was unable to escape or defend himself. Enraged, the family members began brutally beating him with sticks. It is alleged that the beating was so brutal that the young man died on the spot. When police arrived in the morning, they found his body lying in a pool of blood inside the room, causing a sensation in the village.
