Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan, who has been ruling the industry for nearly 25 years, has once again proved his box-office power with his latest release War 2. Featuring South sensation Jr. NTR and Kiara Advani alongside Hrithik, the film hit theatres on August 14, clashing directly with Rajinikanth’s Coolie. Despite the tough competition, War 2 has stormed ahead, crossing Rs 100 crore in just six days and collecting a massive Rs 187.97 crore already. What’s more, this film has outperformed the lifetime earnings of as many as ten of Hrithik’s previous films within just four days of release.
Hrithik has delivered several memorable performances over the years, but War 2 is rewriting his own records. Films like Kites (Rs 49.27 crore), Guzaarish (Rs 29.32 crore), and Mohenjo Daro (Rs 58 crore) struggled at the box office, while even big titles such as Bang Bang (Rs 181.03 crore) and Agneepath (Rs 115 crore) have now been left behind by War 2’s unstoppable run. Other notable films that couldn’t match up to the new benchmark include Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (Rs 90.27 crore), Jodha Akbar (Rs 56.04 crore), Vikram Vedha (Rs 78.66 crore), Kaabil (Rs 103.84 crore), and Super 30 (Rs 146.94 crore).
The success of War 2 is particularly significant because some of these films—like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Jodha Akbar—are considered among Hrithik’s best critically acclaimed works, while others like Bang Bang and Super 30 were box office successes in their own right. Yet, none of them could touch the lightning-fast collections of his latest action thriller.
With the film showing no signs of slowing down, trade analysts believe War 2 is set to rewrite many more records in the coming days. For Hrithik Roshan, it is not just another hit but a career-defining moment that has elevated him once again to the league of Bollywood’s biggest box-office titans.
