Glowing and healthy skin requires proper care, and facials are an essential part of that routine alongside regular hair washing and weekly scrubbing. Facials not only provide an instant glow but also help in deep cleansing, removal of dead skin cells, reduction of blackheads and whiteheads, and overall skin softening. However, the key to effective results is choosing the right type of facial according to your skin type and the season, says beautician Pooja Biswa.
In summer, facials should focus on deep cleansing to remove excess oil, dirt, and impurities while protecting the skin from harmful UV rays and maintaining hydration. Detoxifying facials, exfoliating facials, and soothing treatments using aloe vera, green tea, or fruit-based ingredients are ideal, as they leave the skin feeling light and non-greasy.
During the winter season, cold air can make the skin dry and swollen. Facials in winter should aim to provide intense moisture and hydration. Ingredients like almond oil, hyaluronic acid, and other moisturizing elements help soften and nourish the skin. It is advisable to use lukewarm water instead of hot water to avoid further dryness.
In the monsoon season, facials should focus on purifying, detoxifying, and controlling excess oil. For those prone to breakouts, masks containing charcoal, clay, or neem can be very effective in deeply cleansing the skin and reducing oiliness.
Biswa emphasizes that before getting any facial, it is important to inform the beautician about your skin type so they can recommend the most suitable treatment. After a facial, avoid washing your face with soap or face wash for at least 24 hours, stay out of direct sunlight, use sunscreen, and refrain from applying makeup immediately. A light moisturizer should be applied to maintain the skin’s softness and hydration. Following these precautions ensures that your facial provides the maximum benefit and keeps your skin healthy and radiant throughout the season.
