With just 50 days left for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 in India and Sri Lanka, the trophy was launched in Mumbai in the presence of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, and 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh.
Harmanpreet expressed her determination to win the title, saying the team is working hard to end the trophy drought. She revealed that Yuvraj Singh greatly inspires her and recalled her 171-run knock against Australia in the 2017 World Cup, sharing how the overwhelming welcome from fans on returning to India still gives her goosebumps.
She also stressed that the upcoming ODI series against Australia starting 14 September will be crucial for assessing Team India’s World Cup readiness. Fresh off series wins against England, the squad looks confident ahead of the tournament beginning 30 September.
