Reacting to the viral video, Harbhajan lashed out at Lalit Modi, alleging that the clip was made public for selfish motives.

“The way this video was leaked is completely wrong. This should not have happened. The incident took place 18 years ago, people had already forgotten about it, and now it is being brought back for personal gain,” Harbhajan said.

The 2008 IPL Controversy

The video dates back to IPL 2008, when Harbhajan Singh, then playing for Mumbai Indians, slapped Sreesanth after a match against Punjab Kings. The incident caused a huge uproar at the time, leading to disciplinary action against Harbhajan.

How the Video Resurfaced

According to reports, Lalit Modi showed the footage during a conversation with former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke. Soon after, the clip went viral across social media platforms, reigniting memories of one of IPL’s most controversial moments.

Harbhajan Calls It ‘Unnecessary’

Harbhajan insisted that reviving such old controversies serves no purpose. He stressed that both he and Sreesanth had moved on from the incident years ago, and dragging it back into the spotlight was unfair.
