Pakistan's young cricketer Haider Ali has been accused of rape during the Pakistan Shaheen team's tour of England, leading to his arrest by Manchester Police. He is currently out on bail but cannot leave England until the investigation concludes. Given the serious nature of the crime in England and Wales, Haider faces potential life imprisonment if found guilty, with typical sentences averaging up to 15 years.
Following Haider Ali's suspension by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), promising all cooperation with the ongoing investigation, another young player, Mohammad Faiq, has been called up to replace him in the Pakistan Shaheen team. Mohammad Faiq is an all-rounder with batting and bowling abilities. His career statistics include 40 runs in three first-class matches, seven List A matches with an average of 26.20, and an impressive T20 record with an average of 100.25, featuring two centuries and two half-centuries.
The PCB stated it will fully assist with the UK investigation and meanwhile has suspended Haider Ali pending the outcome. Mohammad Faiq's inclusion offers fresh hope and opportunity in Pakistan's emerging cricket talent pool after the setback caused by Haider’s legal troubles.
