These people should not drink green tea
Green tea contains good antioxidants, but if consumed in excess, it can reduce iron in the body and can also damage the liver. Drinking green tea on an empty stomach increases this effect even more. It is okay to drink 2-3 cups of green tea daily, but drinking more than this can be harmful. Those who are anemic, have liver problems or are allergic to caffeine should consult a doctor before drinking too much green tea.
Stomach problems
The tannin present in green tea can increase the acid in the stomach, which can increase the problem of flatulence, constipation, acidity or ulcer. Especially if it is drunk on an empty stomach, it can be harmful for health. People who have gastritis, peptic ulcer or digestion problems should not drink green tea on an empty stomach in the morning, rather they should drink it after or in between meals.
Iron deficiency
Green tea can reduce the absorption of non-heme iron in the body, which can increase the problems of people with iron deficiency or anemia. To reduce this, green tea should be drunk between meals and not with meals.
Pregnant woman
Pregnant or breastfeeding women should drink green tea in small quantities because it contains caffeine and catechins. Consuming them in excess can cause harm. Excess caffeine can increase the risk of miscarriage and affect the development of the baby. Catechins also interfere with the absorption of folic acid. Therefore, at such times, one should not drink more than 2 cups of green tea a day.
Thyroid problems
People who have thyroid problems should drink green tea in small quantities. Drinking it in excess can also hinder the proper functioning of the thyroid.
To the children
It is not right for children to drink green tea because it contains caffeine which can affect their brain and nerves. Also, the tannin present in it can hinder the absorption of essential nutrients like protein and fat, which are necessary for their proper development. Therefore, it is better to avoid giving green tea to children.
People who are sensitive to caffeine
If you have a problem with drinking too much caffeine, even a small amount of green tea can cause you to feel nervous, have a fast heartbeat, feel irritable or have tremors in your hands and legs. Consuming too much caffeine can reduce calcium absorption in the body, which can weaken bones over time. Such people are advised to drink only one cup of green tea a day or choose caffeine-free or herbal teas.
