Who will get the benefit?
The scheme will benefit newborn babies whose mothers are permanent residents of Tamil Nadu and are registered with PICME with RCH identification number. According to the government, each ring will have a unique number and will be delivered in safe packing. 1.28 lakh rings have been purchased in the first phase. Their distribution will begin from September 22 through 107 centres. In the future, eligible babies will be given rings while going home from government hospitals.
