Ghaziabad Shock: Three Minor Sisters Jump to Death From 9th Floor at Midnight, Online Gaming Addiction Under Scanner

A disturbing incident has come to light from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where three minor sisters allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the ninth floor of a residential building late at night. The tragic incident, which occurred around 2 a.m., has sent shockwaves through the locality and raised serious concerns about online gaming addiction among children.

The incident took place in Bharat City Society, under the Tila Mod police station area. The deceased sisters have been identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12). According to preliminary information, the girls were reportedly addicted to online task-based mobile games, and police are probing whether this played a role in the tragedy.

Panic grips Bharat City Society

Residents of B-1 Tower, Flat No. 907, said they heard a loud noise in the middle of the night and immediately alerted the police. When authorities reached the spot, they found the three sisters dead. The incident has left the family shattered, with relatives and neighbors struggling to come to terms with the loss.

Locals say the sisters were extremely close to each other and were almost always together—whether it was eating, studying, bathing, or sleeping.

Father speaks about gaming addiction

The girls’ father, Chetan Kumar, said that his daughters developed a habit of playing mobile games during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All three were addicted to mobile games. They used to play target-based games, but we don’t understand what pushed them to take such a step,” he said. He also mentioned that their school attendance had been irregular, a fact confirmed by police during the initial investigation.

Police investigation underway

Police officials stated that all angles are being thoroughly investigated.

“The incident occurred around 2 a.m. Digital activity, mobile phone data, and nearby CCTV footage are being examined. The phones have been sent for forensic analysis,” a senior police officer said.

While online gaming addiction is emerging as a possible factor, authorities have clarified that the exact reason behind the mass suicide is not yet confirmed. The investigation is ongoing.
