Gas cylinder: Your gas connection is in danger, you will have to do this, the government has decided

If you use a domestic gas cylinder, this news may be a warning signal for you. The government has now made a major change to the rules for gas connections, requiring Aadhaar-based e-KYC. If this process isn't completed on time, not only your subsidy but also your gas connection could be at risk. To avoid delays in cylinder bookings, the government has now made biometrics mandatory.

The demand for gas cylinders has increased significantly in the past few years. However, many "fake" connections, or multiple connections in the same name, have been discovered. The government has identified some individuals who are illegally distributing subsidies.

To prevent this malpractice and stop black marketing, the government has now implemented a "one customer, one Aadhaar" formula. Customers who do not have complete e-KYC can be considered suspicious by the government and their connections can be temporarily suspended or their subsidies can be withheld.

When we think of KYC, we often think of long lines at gas agencies and hours of wasted time. But this time, the government has simplified the process. You can do it from the comfort of your home using your mobile phone.

Download the official app for your gas company, Indane, HP, or Bharatgas. Login using your consumer number and go to the Aadhaar authentication option. Scan your face using the central government's Aadhaar FaceRD app. Once your information matches, your KYC will be updated within a few minutes.

Many consumers complain that their gas subsidy isn't being credited to their accounts. The main reason for this could be a lack of KYC updates. If your bank details and Aadhaar aren't digitally linked to your gas connection, the government can withhold your subsidy. Therefore, it's best to complete this process today to avoid future technical difficulties.
