From Rags to Riches to Rifts: How a ₹25 Lakh Land Compensation Prompted a Jhansi Man to Desert His Family for His Girlfriend

A startling case of sudden wealth destroying a family has emerged from Imalia village under the Raksa police station area in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. A young man reportedly abandoned his wife of eight years and their six-year-old son to flee with his girlfriend immediately after receiving a massive land acquisition payout from the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA).

The incident highlights a growing, bizarre social trend observed across the region, where overnight economic prosperity from industrial land expansion is triggering severe domestic disputes, infidelity, and family collapses.

The Overnight Fortune

According to the police application moved by the distressed wife, Ruchi Parihar, the family's financial landscape changed dramatically when BIDA acquired approximately five acres of agricultural land belonging to her father-in-law, Dhaniram.

The government authority awarded a whopping compensation package of nearly ₹1 crore to the family. This windfall was subsequently split among Dhaniram’s three sons, with Ruchi's husband, Nilesh, receiving a lump sum of roughly ₹25 lakh directly into his account.

Sudden Wealth, Drastic Behavioral Shift

Ruchi alleged that the influx of cash instantly warped her husband's personality and values.

The Shift in Lifestyle

Before the payout, Nilesh worked various odd jobs to scratch together a basic living for his household. However, once the ₹25 lakh cleared, he completely altered his lifestyle and demeanor. He rapidly distanced himself from his marital responsibilities and began an intense affair with another young woman from the same village, eventually refusing to even sleep in the same room as his wife.

The Disappearance and Instagram Flexing

The situation reached a breaking point when Nilesh packed his bags, took the compensation money, and vanished from the village alongside his girlfriend. Adding insult to injury, the eloped couple reportedly began flaunting their new life together by posting cozy photos on Instagram, leaving the abandoned wife to discover her husband's whereabouts via social media feeds.

Left entirely alone with a six-year-old child and no financial safety net, a desperate Ruchi approached the local precinct after Nilesh remained completely untraceable for over a week.

Official Police Stance

The sudden rush of state development money has transformed the financial landscape for many rural families, but local elders note it has also introduced unprecedented greed and domestic friction.

Commenting on the status of the case, Raksa Police Station In-charge Uday Pratap Singh confirmed that the woman had physically visited the station to narrate her grievance. However, he clarified that a formal, written criminal complaint has not yet been submitted by her. The official assured that the moment a formal petition is filed, the police will launch an active investigation to track down the fleeing husband.
