Holi is just a few days away, and there's good news for millions of households in Uttar Pradesh. This year, before the festival, free cylinders are being provided under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The government will transfer the subsidy amount to beneficiaries' accounts, making it easier to obtain gas cylinders.

In Uttar Pradesh, only those who are already beneficiaries of the Ujjwala Yojana will be eligible for the free cylinder. If you are not currently enrolled in this scheme, there is still an opportunity to apply. First, understand the eligibility criteria and who is prioritized. Only then will the further process be easier.

The Ujjwala Yojana's primary focus is on poor families, particularly women who do not have a gas connection in their name and families with financial constraints. This scheme covers BPL families living in rural or semi-urban areas.

Proof of the number of family members is required. Families listed under SECC 2011, PMAY Rural, and Ayushman Card holders are also eligible. SC, ST, and extremely backward tribal families are also included in this scheme.

Now, regarding the required documents, income certificate, Aadhaar card, ration card, address proof such as electricity or water bill, passport-size photo, and bank details are required for application. The bank account must be linked to Aadhaar, as the subsidy amount is credited directly to the account.

To apply, first visit the official website of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PM Ujjwala Yojana) at https://www.pmuy.gov.in/ujjwala2.html. Select the name of the oil company, such as Bharat Gas or another option. Then, select the Ujjwala 2.0 New Connection option and enter your state, district, and distributor details.

Then, enter your mobile number and verify the OTP. Submit the form after filling in your family details, bank details, and address. Upon completing your application, you will receive a reference number. You can use this number to complete the further process by visiting your nearest gas agency.
