Flies buzzing around the face, extreme heat, and a bad ambulance... how badly did Jinnah die?

Pakistan Independence Day 2025: Pakistan's founder, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, who was a chain smoker, was suffering from TB for a long time. The last moments of his life were very painful. Let's know in detail.

Today, Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day, which is called Youm-e-Azadi. This is a historic moment when India and Pakistan became two separate countries. Pakistan was born in 1947 along with the end of the British Empire. This day was not just a political event, but was the result of the sacrifices and struggles of millions of people. Mohammad Ali Jinnah was known as the founder of Pakistan. Jinnah played an important role in making Pakistan a separate country. Let us know how mercilessly Jinnah, who formed Pakistan on the basis of religion, died.

Jinnah was a chain smoker

Mohammad Ali Jinnah was more of a political Muslim than a religious one, which was evident in his lifestyle. Smoking was also an important part of Jinnah's luxurious lifestyle. Jinnah was a chain smoker and smoked about 50 cigarettes a day. Apart from this, smoking cigars was also a part of his lifestyle. When he returned to India from London in 1935, he had already realized his poor health. Jinnah's cough had increased a lot due to continuous smoking of cigarettes and cigars in the last 50 years. While coughing, phlegm and blood would also come out along with mucus. Along with this, rashes had appeared on the body and there was weakness along with fever.

The condition was getting worse day by day

Jinnah had kept the secret of his illness a secret. When his sister Fatima, who lived with Jinnah like a shadow, took her brother to the doctor, the doctor came to know that Jinnah had TB. Jinnah's condition was deteriorating day by day. It was around 4:15 in the evening on 11 September 1948. At that time a special plane landed at Mauripur Airport. Jinnah, who was ill and counting his last breaths, was in this plane. A year ago, when Jinnah had landed here, he had come walking on his own feet and thousands of people had gathered at the airport to see him. But this time there were no slogans, no crowd, the airport was completely deserted.

Flies hovering over the mouth, extreme heat, and a bad ambulance

Only one military officer came to receive him that day. He was taken off the plane on a stretcher and placed straight in a military ambulance, which moved slowly towards Karachi so that he would not get jolted. The journey was only of 30 minutes, but halfway through the journey the ambulance suddenly stopped because it had run out of petrol. Jinnah was lying on the stretcher and flies were hovering over his face. Karachi usually gets a cool breeze from the sea, but that day there was no breeze at all. The scorching heat and the ambulance stopped on the road had made Jinnah's condition worse.

Every passing minute was taking Jinnah away from life

Mohammad Ali Jinnah was already very ill, and the heat had made him even weaker. Sister Fatima and nurse Dunham, sitting near him, were fanning him in turns so that he could get some relief from the heat. The wait for the second ambulance was getting longer, and every passing minute was pushing Jinnah further away from life. After a long wait, the second ambulance arrived, and Jinnah was taken to the Governor General's bungalow. Then the doctors examined him and told him that his body had become weak due to the tiring journey on the plane and being stuck in the heat in the ambulance, and now there was very little hope of his recovery.

…and then Jinnah is no more

The doctor left, and Mohammad Ali Jinnah kept sleeping near his sister. After about two hours, he opened his eyes, called his sister near him, and said his last words in a low voice- 'Fati, Khuda Hafiz La Ilaha Illallah..Muhammad..Rasool..Allah.' After saying this, his eyes closed forever, and he became dear to Allah.
