To ensure food security for the country's poor and needy families, the central government is implementing the "One Nation, One Ration Card" (ONORC) scheme. Under this scheme, any eligible citizen living in any state or corner of the country can easily access their government ration quota. People no longer need to rely on their original residence or old ration shops.
If you also have a ration card or want to get a new ration card made, then these special things related to this scheme are very important for you.
Key benefits of the plan
National level portability: Under this scheme, beneficiaries can collect their ration from any fair price shop in any state of the country through biometric authentication (Aadhaar Authentication).
Boon for nomadic and migrant labourers: Those who have left their home state for employment or studies and are residing in other states can now avail cheap wheat, rice and other food grains without any hindrance.
Transparency and curbing corruption: The entire distribution process has been digitised through e-PoS machines and Aadhaar seeding, leading to increased transparency.
