Residents of Delhi may soon notice a higher electricity bill as the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has approved an increase in the Power Purchase Adjustment Cost (PPAC), a surcharge that power distribution companies recover from consumers to offset additional electricity procurement expenses.
The revised surcharge has already come into effect from June 2026, which means its impact will be reflected in electricity bills generated in July. The move comes after power utilities reported higher procurement costs during the peak summer season when electricity demand surged across the national capital.
