Delhi Bike Taxi Horror: Woman Alleges Sexual Assault During Ride, Accused Driver Absconds

The safety of women using app-based taxi and bike services in Delhi has once again come under scrutiny after a shocking incident of alleged sexual harassment during a bike taxi ride. A woman has accused a bike taxi driver of molestation, harassment, and issuing death threats during a trip booked through an online cab app.

Incident During Ride from Rohini to Pitampura

According to the complaint, the incident took place on March 12 at around 1:28 pm. The woman had booked a bike ride from Rohini Sector 15 to MP Block Market through an app-based service.

The driver’s name appeared as Sachin on the application. The victim alleged that shortly after the journey began, the driver started behaving inappropriately and made repeated attempts to touch her.

When she objected and asked him to maintain distance, the driver allegedly increased the speed of the bike and repeatedly applied sudden brakes in an attempt to destabilize her. The woman further claimed that when she tried to stop the vehicle, the accused grabbed her from behind and molested her.

Attempt to Take Victim to a Secluded Area

According to the victim, the situation worsened when the driver suddenly diverted from the designated route and began heading toward another direction. When she questioned him, he allegedly threatened to kill her if she continued to raise her voice.

Police sources say the driver was allegedly attempting to take the woman to a deserted area.

Victim Raises Alarm, Driver Flees

Despite being frightened, the woman gathered courage and started shouting loudly for help. She also threatened to jump off the moving bike if the driver did not stop.

Fearing that he might be caught, the accused stopped the bike near Sarvodaya Vidyalaya F-U Block, left the woman there, and fled from the spot.

Police Investigation Underway

The victim has filed a complaint with the police and identified the accused through details available on the ride-hailing app. Authorities have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the accused driver.
