The incident occurred in the Anand Nagar area of ​​Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. In the viral video, a woman is seen screaming for help, "Save me... he's killing me." According to reports, the victim is a resident of Prayagraj and married Himanshu Dubey of Kanpur in 2020. Himanshu works as an IT manager at a shoe company, while her father, Sushil Dubey, retired as a clerk from the Railways Department.

The woman made serious allegations against her in-laws.
She stated that from the very beginning of her marriage, her in-laws had been demanding a large sum of dowry. They demanded some land and 20 lakh rupees in cash. When she refused to comply, she was repeatedly beaten, humiliated, and mentally tortured.

According to the victim, her father-in-law, Sushil Dubey, mother-in-law, Rama, brother-in-law, Abhishek, and sister-in-law, Shruti, harassed her. A few days ago, she had gone to her aunt's house. Around 2 pm on Friday, she returned to her in-laws' house with her husband, Rishikesh Pandey, and sister-in-law, Preeti Pandey.

The woman said that Sushil Dubey became enraged when she knocked on the door and entered the house. He verbally abused her and began beating her without any reason. She was pinned to the ground and severely beaten with kicks, punches, and sticks. Furthermore

She was kept at home and, despite being beaten, suffered severe injuries on several parts of her body, but were not taken to a doctor.
