A sex scandal that surfaced in Maharashtra's Amravati district has sparked an uproar across the state. The main accused, 19-year-old Ayan Ahmed alias Tanveer, has been arrested. The case has now taken a political turn following allegations of his links to Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM party. Nearly 350 pornographic videos have been recovered from the accused, who allegedly targeted 180 minor girls. Rajya Sabha member Anil Bonde, a resident of Amravati, has demanded that the state government investigate the case with a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Who is Tanveer Ahmed?
The accused has been identified as Ayan Ahmed alias Tanveer Ahmed, a resident of Parvata in Amravati district. He was taken into custody on April 11 after pornographic photos and videos of him with several girls surfaced on social media. Parvata police said many of the victims were minors. Police said the accused lured them and took pornographic images against their will. He then made a video and uploaded it to social media with the intention of defaming the victims.
Many secrets are hidden in the mobile phone…
Police have seized the accused's mobile phone and are examining it to gather evidence. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 294 of the Indian Penal Code (sale and distribution of obscene material), Section 8 of the POCSO Act, and provisions of the Information Technology Act. Police said that no victim has contacted the police in this case. Police have appealed to the victim and her family to come forward and cooperate in the case. Police have also assured that their identity will be kept confidential. Police said that strict legal action will be taken against the accused.
More people may be involved
Speaking to reporters, MP Bonde claimed that more people are involved in the case. He demanded an investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and cyber security personnel. He claimed that a gang has created WhatsApp and Snapchat groups (for such crimes). He said that the police should seize the accused's mobile phone and examine his conversations with his associates. Officials are investigating whether the accused acted alone or whether more people were involved. It is suspected that a larger network is involved.
How did the accused target the victims?
It's alleged that Tanveer gained the victims' trust and lured them into a love trap. He then took some of the victims to Mumbai and Pune. Investigators have reported that he made pornographic videos without their consent and later used them to blackmail and force them into prostitution. It's believed he may have over 350 such videos. According to the claim, approximately 180 girls were targeted.
The accused exploited and raped several young girls, aged 16 and 17. He targeted them while they were attending tuition classes in grades 11 and 12. The girls were blackmailed from Parthwada, Achalpur, Amravati, and Nagpur. Police have seized the accused's mobile phone and other belongings. Forensic experts are working to recover deleted data.
Political uproar over AIMIM connection
The pornographic video scandal has created a stir in the entire area. The case has now taken a political turn after allegations that the main accused has links to Asaduddin Owaisi's party, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). Some BJP leaders have claimed that the accused has connections to the AIMIM party. A local AIMIM representative has stated that he no longer has any connection with the party. Leaders have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.
