Congress Intensifies ‘Vote Theft’ Campaign, Releases New Video Targeting BJP

The Congress party on Wednesday escalated its campaign against alleged vote theft by releasing a fresh video claiming to show fake voting in action. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge urged citizens to speak up and protect constitutional institutions from what he called the BJP’s influence.

Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi also shared the one-minute clip on his social media accounts, calling it “the theft of your vote, your rights, and your identity.”

Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Share Video Online

Mallikarjun Kharge posted the video titled “Vote Theft at Booth” on his social media handle, urging voters not to allow their rights to be snatched away. “This time, ask questions and demand answers. Raise your voice against vote theft,” he wrote, stressing that constitutional institutions must be freed from the BJP’s grip.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also posted the video, reiterating that the theft of one’s vote amounts to the theft of one’s rights and identity. She appealed to the public to safeguard their voting rights and oppose electoral malpractice.

What the Video Shows

The Congress-produced video depicts a family arriving at a polling station, only to be told that their votes have already been cast. Later in the clip, two individuals are seen submitting fake votes and signaling approval to a polling official seated at a desk labeled “Election Theft Commission.”

Congress Launches Web Portal

Alongside the video, Congress has launched a dedicated portal — votechori.in/ecdemand — where citizens can demand accountability from the Election Commission and support the push for a digital voter list. According to Rahul Gandhi, users can download alleged evidence of vote theft, file complaints, and sign petitions through the platform.

Upcoming Protest Programs

Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar stated that vote theft is a “do-or-die” issue for the party. He claimed that Rahul Gandhi has provided evidence of how democracy is being “strangled” and said the party will roll out three major protest initiatives:

  • August 14: Loktantra Bachao Mashaal March at all district headquarters, on the eve of Independence Day.

  • August 22 – September 7: Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhodo rallies across all state headquarters.

  • September 15 – October 15: Nationwide signature campaign to protect voting rights and increase public participation.
