Cold Wave in Jaipur: Winter wreaks havoc in Rajasthan, Jaipur disappears in dense fog!

A cold wave and dense fog gripped northern India. Traffic was affected in Jaipur, Ajmer, and Agra due to reduced visibility. Jaipur's AQI was 247 (poor), while other cities' air quality was in the "moderate" category.

Jaipur: As the cold wave intensified in northern India, Rajasthan's capital, Jaipur, was shrouded in a thick blanket of fog on Wednesday morning, drastically reducing visibility. Due to the low visibility, commuters were seen driving with their headlights on on highways to reduce the risk of accidents. Meanwhile, people lit bonfires across the city to protect themselves from the harsh cold.

According to the International Medical Center (IMD), a cold wave is prevailing in Jaipur, with temperatures reaching 19 degrees Celsius. In addition to the cold wave, the air quality in the capital also deteriorated. According to the CPCB, Jaipur recorded an AQI of 247 at 8 am, which falls in the "poor" category.

Besides Jaipur, other cities in Rajasthan were also shrouded in a thick layer of fog. Ajmer was also shrouded in dense fog this morning. Like the capital, Jaipur also experienced a drastic drop in visibility, leaving houses obscured by fog. Compared to Jaipur, Ajmer's air quality was slightly better, with an AQI of 106, which falls in the "moderate" category.

Several cities in Uttar Pradesh were also shrouded in dense fog, reducing visibility. For example, Agra was shrouded in a thick layer of fog in the morning. The Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was also obscured by the dense fog.

According to the IMD, Agra recorded a maximum temperature of 12 degrees Celsius. Despite the fog, the city's air quality remained "moderate," falling in the 101-200 range, according to CPCB data. Other cities, including Moradabad, also grappled with dense fog due to the cold wave, though their air quality remained "moderate." Earlier, Delhi's air quality witnessed a slight dip, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 300 at 8 am, which remained in the 'poor' category, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data. Despite the slight drop, the air remained clear, and a thin fog engulfed the capital. Areas like Kartavya Path were shrouded in dense fog this morning due to the cold wave
