The announcement of awarding the gallantry medal to Bhale Singh, who was a sergeant in the Indian Air Force, was made in the list of gallantry medals released by Rashtrapati Bhavan on 14 August. As soon as the people of Churu got the news of Bhale Singh being awarded the gallantry medal for his indomitable courage, everyone was overjoyed.
He was in charge of the S-400 air defense unit
Sergeant Bhale Singh, a resident of Hasiyavas village of the district, was the launcher in-charge in the S-400 air defense unit of the Air Force during Operation Sindoor. During this time, he made a significant contribution in shooting down 5 fighter planes including F-16, AWACS of the Pakistani Air Force. Bhale Singh, who was a sergeant in the Air Force, while talking about Operation Sindoor launched against Pakistan, said that cruise missiles, stand-off weapons, Fateh missiles were fired from Pakistan's side.
Air defense system suddenly malfunctioned
At that time, the S-400 unit destroyed most of the enemy's weapons in the air itself. He retired from the Air Force on June 30. Recalling the time associated with Operation Sindoor, Bhale Singh says that one night the most dangerous moment came when a launcher system malfunctioned amid shelling and missile attacks, because we had fired too many missiles from that system.

Drone attacks were happening continuously
Now in the darkness of that night, we had only one option, both leave the system there and move ahead. So that we could take it back later, because at that time there was a high risk of attack on us, Pakistan was constantly launching missile attacks. If we had left the launcher system, there were high chances of the missiles we had getting destroyed. At that time, drone attacks were constantly happening.
The AWACS plane was shot down after fixing the system
On this, we all decided that we will not leave the system and formed a team of 4 people. In the darkness of the night, we repaired that launcher system and took it to our location. All this was done completely secretly without turning on any light. Later, we destroyed 2 targets with that system. One was Pakistan's AWACS aircraft, which was shot down 314 kilometers away near Peshawar.
