A disturbing case involving the alleged sexual abuse and blackmail of a schoolgirl has triggered strong action from the Bihar government. The case, reported from Nathuni Ahir Middle School in Dumraon, Buxar, has led to arrests, a proposed dismissal of the accused teachers and demands for a fast-track trial.
According to the complaint filed by the victim's mother, one of the accused teachers allegedly lured the student with promises of helping her pass her examinations and subsequently sexually assaulted her. The complaint further alleges that objectionable videos were made and later used to blackmail the girl. An FIR has been registered under serious provisions, including the POCSO Act.
Education Minister orders strict action
After the matter came to light, Bihar Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari directed the Buxar District Magistrate to immediately prepare a proposal seeking the dismissal of both accused teachers.
The minister also directed officials to pursue a fast-track hearing so that the victim can receive justice without unnecessary delay.
One teacher arrested, another still missing
Police have arrested accused teacher Arvind Kumar from the Brahmapur area. During questioning, investigators reportedly learned that the student had allegedly been taken to a restaurant on Station Road.
Police subsequently searched the premises and reportedly sealed a room as part of the investigation.
The second accused teacher, Virendra Prasad, has reportedly been absconding. Authorities have directed the Buxar police to make every possible effort to locate and arrest him.
Principal also arrested over alleged cover-up
The investigation has also raised questions about the school's headmaster, Mohammad Imam Ali Ansari.
According to the report, the headmaster had claimed that the girl appearing in the video was not a student of the school. Investigators allegedly found evidence suggesting that he was aware of the teachers' conduct and attempted to protect them instead of reporting the matter.
Police have arrested the headmaster as well.
The Education Department has also suspended his State Teacher Award 2026 and issued a show-cause notice to the Dumraon Block Education Officer over alleged negligence.
Police examining digital evidence
Investigators are now examining the digital trail connected with the case. The victim's call-detail records reportedly contained eight suspicious numbers.
Police are attempting to establish who was using these numbers and whether anyone else was involved.
Investigators are also examining the alleged digital material, the restaurant premises and statements from people connected with the case.
Focus now on protecting the victim
The case has once again highlighted the importance of strong safeguards for children in educational institutions. Schools are expected to provide a safe environment, and allegations involving sexual abuse of a minor require immediate reporting and investigation.
With multiple arrests, a search for the remaining accused and a detailed examination of digital evidence underway, the investigation will determine the full circumstances of the case and whether others were involved.
