Roses are among the most loved flowers, but to grow them healthy and blooming, timing and care are crucial.
Right Season to Plant Roses
The ideal time to plant rose saplings is February to March and October to November. During these months, the sunlight is not too harsh, and the moderate climate provides the perfect environment for the plant to grow.
How to Plant a Rose
-
Bring the plant from a nursery with bare roots (without soil).
-
Soak the roots in water overnight.
-
Take a pot with a drainage hole at the bottom to prevent waterlogging.
-
Fill it with compost-rich soil, make a small hole in the center, place the roots, and cover them gently with soil.
Sunlight Requirement
Roses need 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily. However, protect the plant from the scorching afternoon sun in summer. Similarly, avoid placing it in extremely cold spots during winter.
Watering the Plant
Keep the soil slightly moist at all times. Water the plant only when the top layer of soil dries out. Always water at the roots, not on the leaves, as wet leaves can lead to fungal infections and rotting.
