BCCI Earns Over ₹1,500 Crore from Sale of RCB and Rajasthan Royals

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has secured a massive financial boost following the sale of two Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises—Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Total Earnings from the Deal
As per IPL regulations, the BCCI receives a 5% transfer fee whenever a franchise changes ownership. Based on the reported sale values:
- RCB was sold for approximately ₹16,660 crore
→ 5% fee to BCCI: ₹833 crore - Rajasthan Royals was sold for around ₹15,000 crore
→ 5% fee to BCCI: ₹750 crore
Total revenue earned by BCCI:
👉 ₹1,583 crore
Record-Breaking Franchise Valuations
The combined valuation of both teams crossed ₹31,000 crore, making it one of the biggest deals in IPL history. RCB emerged as the most expensive IPL franchise ever, followed closely by Rajasthan Royals.

This significant inflow further strengthens BCCI’s position as the wealthiest cricket board globally. It also reflects the growing commercial power and global appeal of the IPL.
