As the sun sets over the ancient city of Ayodhya, the shimmering ghats of the sacred Saryu River prepare for a divine transformation. From October 19 to 23, 2025, the city will dazzle the world with the grandeur of Deepotsav 2025, a celebration of Lord Ram’s triumphant return to Ayodhya — and a vibrant reflection of India’s living culture, devotion, and unity.
This year’s festival, themed #RamRajyaKaDeepotsav, is set to make history with a Guinness World Record attempt to light over 2.6 million diyas across 56 ghats. The golden glow of these oil lamps will create a breathtaking view visible even from the skies — a true “history in lights.”
Deepotsav: A Symbol of Faith and Transformation
Far beyond a visual spectacle, Deepotsav 2025 showcases Uttar Pradesh’s cultural renaissance under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Once defined by challenges, the state has now become the spiritual heart of India — attracting millions of pilgrims, tourists, and international artists who gather to experience the divine aura of Ayodhya.
The celebrations will begin with sacred rituals and culminate in a dazzling display of light, faith, and modern technology. Ramkatha Park will host performances by leading Indian artists, while Ramleela troupes from Russia, Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, and Sri Lanka will present their unique interpretations of the Ramayana — transforming Ayodhya into a global stage of cultural harmony.
Tradition Meets Technology
Deepotsav 2025 beautifully blends ancient devotion with digital innovation. A group of 100 children will form a symbolic Vanar Sena, recreating Lord Ram’s homecoming as they arrive aboard a “Pushpak Viman.” Drone shows, projection mapping, and eco-friendly fireworks will illuminate the skies — merging mythology with modern artistry.
Visitors can use the Deepotsav AR App to explore animated scenes from the Ramayana at key locations like Ram ki Paidi, while the Divya Ayodhya App offers a 360-degree virtual darshan for devotees worldwide. A smart crowd management system will monitor real-time visitor movement, ensuring safety and comfort for the millions expected to attend.
A Celebration Rooted in History
The origins of Deepotsav trace back to the Ramayana, when the people of Ayodhya lit rows of lamps to welcome Lord Ram, Mata Sita, and Lakshman after their 14-year exile. Revived as a state festival in 2017, Deepotsav has since evolved into an international symbol of India’s spiritual heritage.
In 2017, only 1.71 lakh diyas lit up the Saryu ghats, attracting 1.5 lakh visitors. By 2023, over 22 lakh diyas illuminated the riverbanks as 24 lakh people witnessed the spectacle. The festival’s budget, which once stood at ₹24 crore, has grown to over ₹240 crore — driving both cultural tourism and local livelihoods.
Empowering Communities Through Light
Behind every glowing diya lies a story of empowerment. Thousands of rural women and artisans are handcrafting the lamps using sustainable materials, contributing to both environmental responsibility and social progress. Each diya represents not just a flame, but a family’s hope — a testament to the belief that development shines brightest when it uplifts everyone.
The grand Shobhayatra (royal procession) will feature seven majestic tableaux depicting different episodes from the Ramayana, along with floats promoting cleanliness, women’s empowerment, and unity. The celebrations will also include competitions for youth under the theme “Mera Deep, Mera Vishwas” (My Lamp, My Faith) — ensuring that every generation participates in keeping the flame of dharma alive.
Global Harmony Through Ramayana
International troupes will once again add depth to the festival’s global character. Artists from Indonesia will showcase Hanuman’s mission to Lanka, Thailand will reenact Ram’s battle with Maricha and Ravana, Sri Lanka will tell its local version of “Ravaneshwar,” and Nepal will dramatize the “Laxman Shakti Prayog” episode. These performances highlight how the story of Lord Ram transcends borders — uniting cultures through shared values of courage, compassion, and truth.
Lighting the Path to a New Uttar Pradesh
Deepotsav 2025 isn’t just about lamps and rituals — it reflects a new face of Uttar Pradesh. The state’s focus on infrastructure, heritage tourism, and international collaboration has transformed cities like Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Prayagraj into thriving spiritual destinations.
As Chief Minister Adityanath’s vision of “Ram Rajya” — a just and harmonious state — takes shape, Ayodhya stands as its glowing symbol: spiritually rooted yet forward-looking.
Be Part of History
From October 19 to 23, 2025, Ayodhya will shine brighter than ever before. As millions of diyas light up the ghats, the chants of “Jai Shri Ram” will echo across the Saryu, uniting faith, culture, and humanity.
Whether you stand on the ghats or join virtually through the ‘Ek Diya Ram Ke Naam’ campaign, you’ll be part of a celebration that connects the past to the future — a festival where tradition meets technology, and devotion meets development.
Ayodhya Deepotsav 2025 — where light becomes legacy, and India’s eternal spirit shines anew.
