Asia Cup 2025: Sri Lanka announced the team for Asia Cup, the dashing spinner returned to the team

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has announced its 16-man squad for the Asia Cup 2025. Former team captain and star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has returned to the T20 team after recovering from injury.
Colombo: The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has announced its team for the Asia Cup 2025. Leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has been included in the 16-member squad for the Asia Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates from September 9. Hasaranga is not part of the Sri Lankan team for the Zimbabwe tour. The Zimbabwe tour will start with the first ODI in Harare on Friday. Sri Lanka will play one more ODI and three T20 matches in this tour.
Hasranga had a hamstring strain during the home series against Bangladesh. He has now become fit to participate in the Asia Cup 2025. Apart from Hasranga, Sri Lanka has also included two young batsmen Kamil Mishara and Nuwanidu Fernando in the Asia Cup team. Sri Lanka has been placed in Group B along with Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong in the Asia Cup. Before the Super Four stage, Sri Lanka will face Bangladesh on 13 September, Hong Kong on 15 September and Afghanistan on 18 September.
