Anaya Bangar Undergoes Surgery: These Foods Are Now Off-Limits After Gender Transition Procedures

Anaya Bangar, daughter of former India cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar, recently underwent two gender-affirming surgeries—breast augmentation and tracheal shave—as part of her ongoing transition journey. The procedures took place on 2 July 2025, shortly after her return to India from the UK.

In a heartfelt video shared on her YouTube channel, Anaya emotionally opened up about her transformation and the road ahead. While the surgeries were successful, they come with certain temporary dietary restrictions necessary for recovery.

Why These Surgeries Were Done

  • Breast Augmentation: A common procedure in male-to-female transitions that enhances chest appearance to match gender identity.

  • Tracheal Shave: This surgery reduces the size of the Adam’s apple (thyroid cartilage) to create a softer neck profile.

Post-Surgery Dietary Restrictions

Anaya has been advised by her doctors to avoid several food and lifestyle items to ensure smooth healing and prevent complications:

After Tracheal Shave Surgery, she must avoid:

  • Hard or crunchy foods (e.g. chips, dry toast, nuts)

  • Spicy foods

  • Smoking and alcohol

  • Anything that could irritate or strain the throat

After Breast Augmentation Surgery, she must avoid:

  • Processed foods

  • Salty or sugar-rich items

  • Carbonated or sugary beverages

  • Spicy and oily foods

  • Alcohol

What She Can Eat

Anaya’s current diet will focus on:

  • Soft, easy-to-swallow foods

  • Liquid or semi-solid meals (e.g. soups, smoothies, broths)

  • Nutrient-rich options to support healing (e.g. fruits, cooked vegetables, protein shakes)

All dietary guidance is being overseen by Dr. Parag Telang, the surgeon who performed her procedures, ensuring that her recovery is safe and effective.
