Millions of central government employees and pensioners are eagerly awaiting the 8th Pay Commission. Everyone wants to know their fitment factor and salary increase under the new Pay Commission. Typically, the central government constitutes a Pay Commission every 10 years to revise employee salaries and pensions.
When will the report be out?
If you're thinking the 8th Pay Commission's recommendations will be implemented soon, you might have to wait a bit longer. Based on past experience, accurate financial figures could take until 2027. The previous 7th Pay Commission was formed on February 28, 2014. It took approximately 21 months to finalize its recommendations and submit its report, which was presented on November 19, 2015.
The 8th Pay Commission was constituted on November 3, 2025. This means the Commission has been given 18 months to submit its report. Therefore, its official deadline is May 2027. However, if it takes a little longer, as with previous commissions, the final report is expected to be submitted around July 25, 2027.
What is Fitment Factor?
