360° Camera, Sunroof Under ₹6 Lakh? Nissan’s New 7-Seater Gravite Set to Challenge Ertiga and Carens

Nissan Motor India has officially revealed the name of its upcoming MPV for the Indian market — Nissan Gravite. The new model is scheduled to be launched on February 17 and has been developed specifically with Indian customers in mind. Positioned as a budget-friendly 7-seater, the Gravite is expected to take on popular MPVs like the Maruti Ertiga and Kia Carens.

Based on Triber’s Platform, Focus on Space

The Nissan Gravite will be built on the CMF-A platform, the same architecture that underpins the Renault Triber. This platform has already proven its practicality in India, especially for compact MPVs. As a result, the Gravite is likely to feature a three-row seating layout with space optimization similar to the Triber, while sporting Nissan’s own design touches.

Nissan has confirmed that the Gravite will be offered exclusively as a seven-seater MPV, making it an attractive option for large families and fleet buyers.

Expected Engine Options

While Nissan has not yet officially disclosed the engine details, the Gravite is expected to share its powertrain with the Triber. This means it may come with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 72 hp and 96 Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

There is also strong speculation around the introduction of a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, similar to the one seen in the Renault Kiger. If offered, this engine could generate around 100 hp and 160 Nm, paired with either a manual gearbox or a CVT automatic, significantly improving performance.

Price Expectations

The Renault Triber is currently India’s most affordable MPV, priced between ₹5.76 lakh and ₹8.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Nissan is expected to position the Gravite in a similar price bracket, with the possibility of an even lower starting price to attract first-time car buyers.

With buzz around premium features like a 360-degree camera and sunroof at an aggressive price point, the Nissan Gravite could become a strong value-for-money contender in the entry-level MPV segment once it hits the market.
