Hyundai is preparing a major update for its best-selling mid-size SUV, the Creta, with the refreshed model expected to debut globally by 2027. Spy images of the upcoming Creta’s interior have sparked fresh excitement, revealing several potential upgrades that could raise the bar in the segment. With new comfort features, advanced technology, and a sportier stance, the next-generation Creta could pose a serious challenge to rivals like the Kia Seltos and Tata Sierra.
One of the most talked-about revelations from the interior spy shots is a button similar to the “Zero-Gravity” feature seen in the Hyundai Ioniq 5. In the electric SUV, this function reclines the passenger seat and deploys a footrest for enhanced comfort. While the current top-end Creta already offers a “Boss Mode” that allows the front passenger seat to slide and recline, it does not include a footrest. It remains unclear whether Hyundai will introduce the full zero-gravity-style setup in the India-spec 2027 Creta.
On the exterior front, although the test vehicle was heavily camouflaged, one standout detail was the presence of large 19-inch alloy wheels. These are bigger than the 18-inch wheels offered on the current model and give the SUV a more aggressive and sporty appearance. However, such large wheels could affect ride comfort, especially on Indian roads. If introduced in India, they are likely to be reserved for higher trims or a sportier N-Line version.
In terms of powertrain, the 2027 Hyundai Creta is expected to continue with familiar engine options. These include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are likely to remain part of the lineup.
With the possibility of premium comfort features, a larger infotainment display, upgraded ADAS, improved connectivity, and a more athletic design, the upcoming Creta could further strengthen Hyundai’s position in the highly competitive mid-size SUV market.
