Farmers are eagerly awaiting the 22nd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. For several days, it has been speculated that ₹2,000 could be transferred to farmers' bank accounts after Holi. However, the government has not yet made an official announcement regarding the exact date of the next installment. Meanwhile, many farmers have complained that despite being eligible, they are not receiving financial benefits under the scheme. This raises an important question: Why are eligible farmers being left out? Are e-KYC issues or inaccuracies in land records the main reasons?
Non-completion of e-KYC: A major reason:
According to experts, completing e-KYC is essential to receive benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. Farmers who have not yet completed their e-KYC often find their installments stuck.
In many rural areas, elderly farmers and women sometimes face technical difficulties completing the process. During biometric verification, faint fingerprints can cause authentication problems. In some cases, OTP verification or Aadhaar authentication also poses problems. Due to these technical issues, some farmers are left off the beneficiary list despite being eligible.
Inaccuracies in Land Records
: Another common reason farmers miss out on benefits is incorrect land records. This scheme only provides assistance to farmers whose names are correctly recorded in land documents such as the Khasra or Khatauni. If a name is misspelled or the records are outdated, the farmer's name may not appear on the beneficiary list.
This problem is especially common in rural areas where old land records haven't been updated for years. Experts advise farmers to contact their local revenue department to correct their name and land details. Many states have also introduced Farmer Registry Systems and Farmer IDs to make it easier to match and verify records.
How to complete e-KYC for PM-Kisan
The e-KYC process is simple and can be completed online by following these steps:
Visit the official PM-Kisan portal.
Log in and select “e-KYC” option.
Enter your Aadhaar number and captcha code.
An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
Enter the OTP to verify it and complete the e-KYC process.
If OTP-based verification does not work, farmers can visit their nearest CSC (Common Service Centre) where biometric verification can be completed.
Farmer registration is mandatory in some states.
In some states, completing a farmer registration is also mandatory. For example, in Uttar Pradesh, farmers can create a new account on the farmer registration portal and verify their identity through Aadhaar. Upon successful registration, they receive a farmer ID, which is used to match land records. If this process is not completed, installments may be delayed or blocked.
Why the number of beneficiaries is declining
In recent years, the government has tightened the verification process to remove fake beneficiaries and ineligible people from the list. Methods like Aadhaar linking, bank account verification, and land record validation have been made mandatory. As a result, many names have been removed from the list. However, some genuine farmers have also faced problems due to minor errors in their documents.
Important precautions for farmers:
Farmers should keep the following things in mind to avoid problems:
Check the spelling of your name in the Khasra/Khatauni record.
Make sure that Aadhaar and bank account details are correct.
Complete e-KYC on time.
Make sure that the mobile number is linked to Aadhaar.
Experts say that if all documents are correct and e-KYC is complete, farmers should have no problem receiving their PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi installments. Simply put, along with eligibility, proper documentation and accurate digital verification are also essential to receive the scheme's benefits without any interruptions.
