According to reports shared by WABetaInfo, the new feature was discovered in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.26.19.2.
The feature is designed specifically for group admins. Once enabled, admins will be able to create a customized greeting message that will automatically appear for new members when they join the group.
The welcome message can include:
- Group rules
- Introduction text
- Important instructions
- Friendly greetings
- Useful links or reminders
This could make it easier for new users to understand the purpose and environment of the group without needing to ask basic questions repeatedly.
How the Feature Will Work
Reports suggest that WhatsApp is adding a new option called “Send Welcome Greeting” inside the Group Permissions section.
Admins will reportedly see a toggle button that can activate or deactivate the feature.
