WhatsApp photos aren't saving to your gallery? Learn a 100% working solution to this problem

If photos or videos downloaded from WhatsApp are not visible in your phone's gallery, it is usually due to the Media Visibility setting being turned off or the app permissions.

To fix this, follow the steps below:

1. Turn on WhatsApp's 'Media Visibility' setting.
This is the most common reason. If this setting is off, WhatsApp photos won't appear in the gallery.

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings by clicking on the 3 dots in the top right corner.

Click on the Chats option.

Turn ON (enable) the Media Visibility option.

Check for a specific chat: If one person's photo isn't showing up in the gallery, open that person's chat > click their name at the top > click Media Visibility and select Default (Yes) or Yes.

2. Check WhatsApp's storage and file permissions
If WhatsApp don’t have access to your phone's files and media, photos won't be saved.

Go to Settings on your phone.

Go to Apps or App Management and select WhatsApp.

Click on Permissions.

Click on Photos and Videos (or Storage) and set it to Allow.

3. Turn on 'Save to Photos' (for iPhone users)
If you're using an iPhone:

Go to WhatsApp Settings.

Click on Chats.

Turn the Save to Photos option on (Green).

Go to your iPhone's Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos > WhatsApp and select Full Access.

4. Turn on 'Automatic Media Download'
if photos aren't downloading automatically:

Go to WhatsApp Settings > Storage and Data.

Look in the Media Auto-Download section.

Tick (Select Photos) in both When using mobile data and When connected on Wi-Fi.

5. Check phone storage and restart WhatsApp
If your phone's internal storage is full, new photos won't save. Free up some space on your phone.

Restart the phone: Sometimes minor technical problems can be fixed by turning the phone off and then on (restarting).
