Weather Update: Temperature drops in Delhi-NCR, storm and rain wreak havoc in Kolkata, know what the weather will be like across the country

Weather Update: There was relief in Delhi-NCR as the temperature dropped below normal, while in Kolkata, life was affected due to strong storm and rain.
People in Delhi-NCR have found significant relief from the heat. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the Safdarjung area was recorded at 36.8 degrees Celsius as of 5:30 pm on Friday, which was 3.6 degrees below normal. Temperatures in areas like Palam, Lodhi Road, and Ayanagar also remained below normal.
Similarly, minimum temperatures have dropped, making the morning and evening weather more pleasant than before. Some parts of Delhi-NCR have also received light rain over the past 24 hours. Safdarjung recorded 4 mm of rain, while Palam recorded 4.3 mm, making the weather cool and comfortable.
The weather took a sudden turn in many districts of South Bengal.
Meanwhile, the weather in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, and several districts in South Bengal experienced a sudden change. While the weather remained humid and overcast until Friday afternoon, heavy rain accompanied by a strong storm began. Strong winds blew in Kolkata at speeds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour. Flight services at Kolkata Airport were disrupted for about an hour due to the inclement weather. Furthermore, train services on the Bangaon route were briefly disrupted after a tree fell on the railway track near Madhyamgram station.
Strong storm in Howrah and Hooghly too
Along with Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly also witnessed strong thunderstorms and rain. The Alipore Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for six districts in South Bengal. These areas are expected to experience light to moderate rain, along with strong winds of up to 60 to 70 kilometers per hour.
Weather condition in 16 states of the country
The Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm and rain alert for 16 states across the country. These states include Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, West Bengal, Kerala, and Karnataka. Strong winds, rain, and hailstorms are also expected in many areas.
Thunderstorms and rain are expected in Delhi-NCR between May 29 and June 2. An orange alert has been issued for May 29. During this period, winds can gust up to 70 kilometers per hour. Strong winds and rain will also occur on May 30 and 31. The sky may remain cloudy on June 1 and 2, but after that, the heat is expected to increase again.
Very bad weather is expected in Uttar Pradesh
The weather in Uttar Pradesh is expected to be very rough. Rain accompanied by dust storms is likely in western Uttar Pradesh, with wind speeds reaching 80 to 100 kilometers per hour. Strong winds are also expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rain and hailstorms are also possible in some areas. In Bihar, a storm and rain alert has been issued for several districts between May 29 and 30. Rain accompanied by strong winds is likely in several districts, including Patna, Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Siwan, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Bhagalpur. Wind speeds could reach up to 70 kilometers per hour.
