Aadhaar cards are widely used in India, whether for government work or any other purpose requiring identification. It is an identity card issued by the central government to citizens of the country, containing a person's biometric details. How to lock Aadhaar card?

To lock Aadhaar card, first visit the UIDAI myAadhaar website.

Next, select the 'Lock/Unlock Aadhaar' option.

After selecting this option, enter Aadhaar Virtual ID (VID), full name, PIN code and captcha.

After this, Aadhaar biometrics will be locked once the OTP is verified.

What are the benefits of locking Aadhaar card?

To prevent the fingerprint, iris scan, and face data associated with your Aadhaar card from being misused and used for malicious purposes, it is recommended to enable Aadhaar Biometric Lock. This feature prevents ID verification, money transfers, or SIM card issuance without your permission. Users/Indian citizens can lock or unlock their biometrics at any time. They can do so through the UIDAI portal or the mAadhaar app. There have been numerous reports of fraudulent activities using Aadhaar card information. However, the government has now taken an important step to protect citizens, and it remains to be seen how this will benefit citizens.
