In the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, all eyes are on stars like Suryakumar Yadav and his teammates. But before them, a young talent had already made his mark on the Asia Cup stage. We’re talking about Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who lit up the Under-19 Asia Cup 2024 with his fearless batting. His explosive strike rate and power-hitting made him one of the standout performers of the tournament.
Record Strike Rate in U19 Asia Cup
Vaibhav Suryavanshi featured in all five matches of the U19 Asia Cup 2024, played in ODI format. Across these games, he faced 121 balls and scored 176 runs at an average of 44. More importantly, he struck at an impressive 145.45 strike rate, the highest among all batsmen in the tournament.
Second-Highest in Six-Hitting
The youngster showcased his power game by smashing 12 sixes, finishing as the second-highest six-hitter in the competition. With 176 runs, he was also India’s joint second-most successful batsman, sharing the spot with Ayush Mhatre, who matched his tally.
Disappointment in the Final
Despite his brilliant run, Suryavanshi couldn’t deliver in the final against Bangladesh. Chasing a tough target, he fell cheaply for just 9 runs, and India eventually lost the title clash by 59 runs. His early dismissal was one of the turning points that cost India the championship.
Conclusion
While India missed out on the U19 Asia Cup trophy, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s fearless approach and remarkable strike rate made him one of the brightest young batting prospects to watch out for in the future.
