A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Gorakhpur where a young couple ended their lives by jumping in front of a speeding train at Pipraich railway station. The tragic episode shocked the locals as the two were seen walking along the railway tracks for a long time before taking the drastic step. The woman’s body was found naked on the tracks, while the man’s body was discovered nearby with his clothes on.

Police identified the man as 21-year-old Vishwakarma Kumar, a resident of Ward No. 11 under Pipraich police station limits. The 18-year-old woman was also from the same area. According to witnesses, the couple held hands and jumped together in front of the train around 9:30 pm. The impact was devastating — the woman’s leg was severed, and the man sustained fatal head injuries. The loco pilot immediately applied the brakes but was unable to prevent the tragedy. He then informed the police, who reached the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination.

Initial investigations revealed that the woman worked at a local clothing store. After finishing work, she went to the station to meet the young man. The two were seen talking for a long time before the suicide. Police recovered her mobile phone from the site and used it to inform her family. Her mother later arrived at the spot and identified the body.

It was further revealed that the woman’s marriage had been fixed for May next year. She was the eldest among three sisters and a brother, while Vishwakarma was the youngest in his family. The couple had reportedly been in love for some time, but the girl’s mother opposed their relationship.

According to Vishwakarma’s father, his son received a call from the girl a day before the incident and left home, never to return. He claimed that both had attempted suicide once before, about six months ago, after facing opposition to their relationship. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover all circumstances surrounding this tragic double suicide.
