The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has given a major relief to owners of non-commercial vehicles living within 20 km radius of the toll plaza.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has provided significant relief to non-commercial vehicle owners living within 20 kilometers of toll plazas. The ministry has decided to offer them monthly or annual passes at a very low fixed fee. The ministry has established new rules regarding FASTag annual passes at toll plazas.
The government has enacted new rules to reduce the financial burden on local residents, eliminate long queues at toll plazas, and make the process of issuing local passes through FASTags completely digital and transparent. The central government will now provide an annual FASTag pass worth approximately ₹3,000 to local residents living within a 20-km radius of a national highway toll plaza.
With this pass, they will be able to cross the toll plaza any number of times within a year, i.e. unlimited. Let us tell you that currently, through the pass of Rs. 3075, people are allowed only 200 trips in a year. Under the new rule of the government, now local people can cross the concerned toll plaza any number of times by paying a limit fee of Rs. 3000. In the current system, such people usually have the option of monthly pass. The new rule of the government can reduce the hassle of renewing the pass again and again.
This initiative by the Central Government will reduce the financial burden of frequent toll payments for those living near toll plazas. Furthermore, FASTags can help make the entire process digital and easier .
