“The Earth Is Demanding a Sacrifice”: Superstition Turns Deadly as Businessman Is Murdered in Bizarre Treasure Ritual Case

A shocking case involving superstition, greed, and a brutal murder has come to light from Gairatganj area of Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh. A 42-year-old businessman and moneylender, Vijay Jain, who had been missing since July 7, was allegedly killed as part of a ritual linked to a belief in hidden treasure.

According to police, the accused carried out the crime in the name of a tantric ritual, believing that a human sacrifice was needed to recover buried wealth. The murder conspiracy was uncovered within six days, leading to the arrest of three accused persons.

Missing Businessman Found Dead Near Riverbank

Vijay Jain, a well-known businessman from the area, went missing on July 7. His family later filed a missing person complaint after he could not be contacted.

On July 13, police discovered an unidentified body buried near a riverbank in Parasia village. The body was found partially covered in mud, with the hands and feet visible.

The family identified the deceased through his clothes, mobile phone, and a distinctive artificial eye. Following the identification, police teams including forensic experts and a dog squad examined the crime scene and began a detailed investigation.

Treasure Belief Led to Murder, Police Say

During questioning, the police allegedly uncovered a disturbing plan involving the main accused, Prahlad Sahu, who reportedly practiced tantric rituals and knew Vijay Jain.

Police said the accused believed that treasure was hidden near the Parasia River area. According to the investigation, Prahlad, along with his associates Karim Khan and Tikam Sahu, allegedly took Vijay to the riverbank on July 7 on the pretext of performing a ritual.

During the alleged ritual, Prahlad reportedly claimed that the earth was becoming hot and that a sacrifice was needed to obtain the treasure. Police allege that the accused then attacked Vijay with an axe and killed him before burying the body to destroy evidence.

Weapons and Evidence Recovered

Raisen police said they have recovered items allegedly connected to the crime, including:

  • An axe allegedly used in the murder
  • A shovel
  • A motorcycle
  • Mobile phones

The three main accused have been arrested, while further investigation is underway to identify any additional people involved in the case.

Police Continue Investigation

Authorities are examining all aspects of the case and collecting evidence to present before the court. Officials have stated that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.
