Telangana Bus Tragedy: 21 Dead, Including a Child — Full Timeline and List of Victims

A devastating road accident in Rangareddy district of Telangana has claimed 21 lives, leaving several others injured. The tragic collision took place early Monday morning near Mirzaguda village in Chevella Mandal, when a tipper truck loaded with gravel rammed into a passenger bus on the Hyderabad–Bijapur highway.
The impact was so severe that the truck overturned and fell onto the bus, burying many passengers under the heavy load of gravel.
The Horrific Scene
According to officials, the passenger bus was carrying around 72 passengers when the accident occurred. The crash resulted in 21 fatalities, including 10 women, 9 men, and a one-year-old child. Among the deceased were 18 bus passengers, the bus driver, and the tipper truck driver.
At least 24 others sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to the Chevella Government Hospital for treatment. Police cordoned off the area and launched rescue operations using JCB excavators to remove debris and rescue trapped passengers.
Full Timeline of the Telangana Bus Accident
🕓 4:40 AM: The private passenger bus departed from Tandur for Hyderabad.
🕕 6:15 AM: The tipper truck collided with the bus near Mirzaguda, resulting in multiple fatalities on the spot.
🕖 7:00 AM: Rescue operations began with JCBs clearing gravel from the bus wreckage.
🕗 8:00 AM: The injured were shifted to Chevella Hospital; recovery of bodies also started.
🕣 8:40 AM: Firefighters arrived at the scene to assist with rescue efforts.
🕙 10:00 AM: ADGP Mahesh Bhagwat reached the accident site for inspection.
🕛 12:00 PM onward: Post-mortem examinations began, and the bodies were handed over to families.
Local residents staged a protest against MLA Kale Yadayya, demanding accountability for frequent accidents on the highway. Later, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar visited the hospital to meet the injured and review the situation.

Police said the identification process is ongoing, and the remaining victims will be identified through family verification and forensic assistance.
Government Response and Rescue Efforts
Emergency teams, including local police, firefighters, and disaster response units, worked for hours to clear the wreckage. Senior officials confirmed that compensation will be provided to the families of the deceased and that a detailed inquiry has been ordered into the cause of the accident.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar expressed condolences and said, “This is a heartbreaking tragedy. The government stands with the victims’ families and will ensure strict action to prevent such accidents in the future.”
