Tata Motors is preparing to expand and refresh its vehicle lineup in India with two much-awaited models. The company is expected to introduce the updated Tigor and the all-new Safari EV, giving customers more choices across petrol, CNG, and electric powertrains.

The new Tigor is expected to arrive with an updated design, additional features, and petrol and CNG options. Meanwhile, the Safari EV is expected to become Tata Motors' largest electric SUV and its first three-row electric SUV. Both models could bring significant updates to their respective segments.

Safari EV could become Tata's biggest electric SUV

The Safari EV is expected to be the more premium of the two upcoming models. It is likely to sit above the Harrier EV in Tata Motors' electric SUV lineup and could become the company's first three-row electric SUV.

The SUV is expected to be based on Tata Motors' advanced Active Dot EV architecture. It could reportedly be offered with 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options. Depending on the variant, customers may also get a choice between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

The design is expected to feature several EV-specific elements, including a closed-off front grille, aerodynamic alloy wheels, and an updated lighting setup. The larger electric SUV is also expected to offer a spacious cabin suitable for families looking for a three-row electric vehicle.

New Tigor expected to get a major feature upgrade

The Tigor facelift is expected to retain the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. The engine is expected to produce around 86 PS in petrol form, while the CNG version could produce around 73.4 PS.

However, the biggest changes could come to the car's styling and equipment list. The updated Tigor is expected to receive revised exterior elements, new colour options, and additional design changes.

The feature list could also become more competitive, with expected additions such as LED lighting, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six airbags, rear AC vents, and rain-sensing wipers.

Tigor EV could also receive an update

Tata Motors may also refresh the electric version of the Tigor. The updated Tigor EV is expected to receive styling and interior changes inspired by the company's newer electric models.

Reports suggest that the updated electric sedan could be offered with battery options ranging from around 25 kWh to 34 kWh, with a claimed range of up to approximately 300 km on a single charge.

The Tigor EV could also receive Tata Motors' newer 6-in-1 electric drivetrain technology, which is being used across the company's latest EV lineup.

Tata Motors is expanding its petrol, CNG and EV lineup

With the Tiago and Tiago EV already receiving updates, the Tigor is expected to be the next model to get a refresh. Tata Motors appears to be following a strategy of offering multiple powertrain choices across its passenger-car lineup.

The updated Tigor could strengthen Tata's presence in the affordable petrol and CNG sedan segment, while the Safari EV could take the company's electric SUV range into a more premium and spacious category.
