South superstar Prabhas is all set to bring a fresh flavor to the big screen in 2025 with his upcoming horror-comedy film, Raja Saab. The recently released trailer has generated positive buzz among fans, promising a unique cinematic experience. While Raja Saab marks a new territory for Prabhas, it also faces the challenge of competing with established hits in the horror-comedy genre, especially Stree 2, which currently holds the record as the highest-grossing horror-comedy film in history, raking in an astonishing 884.45 crores globally and gaining popularity on OTT platforms as well.
Stree 2’s massive success set a high bar, with other notable hits like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and the 2024 low-budget blockbuster Munjya also earning well in the genre. However, Prabhas’s star power and pan-India appeal make Raja Saab a formidable contender. Since his breakout with Bahubali, Prabhas has consistently delivered films with impressive box office collections, with several surpassing the 500-crore mark and two crossing the coveted 1000-crore milestone. His fan base spans across both South India and Hindi-speaking regions, as well as overseas, ensuring a wide reach for his projects.
Adding to the excitement is the presence of Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt, who takes on the role of the lead villain. His intense portrayal, glimpsed in the trailer, has already garnered acclaim, blending perfectly with Prabhas’s charm and action persona. Sanjay Dutt’s popularity among Hindi and South audiences enhances the film’s pan-India appeal, and many believe his presence could be pivotal in pushing the film to blockbuster status, similar to his successful crossover roles in franchises like KGF.
The Raja Saab teaser has struck a chord, especially highlighting the electrifying chemistry between Prabhas and Sanjay Dutt. Though the film is scheduled to release on December 5, 2025, the anticipation and excitement are already palpable, suggesting that this duo could well rewrite the records set by Stree 2 and dominate the horror-comedy box office space in the coming year.
