In a significant breakthrough, the North District unit of Delhi Police has arrested Rohit Solanki, the alleged main shooter in the February 25 attack on advocate Deepak Khatri, counsel for gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Investigators have claimed that Solanki is associated with the gang led by notorious criminal Rohit Godara.
Arrest Near Majra Dabas
Acting on a specific tip-off, police laid a trap near the Majra Dabas area of Outer Delhi and apprehended the accused. A pistol was recovered from his possession at the time of arrest.
According to officials, Solanki was riding a scooter during the incident and allegedly opened direct fire at the lawyer’s vehicle. Further interrogation is underway to ascertain the role of other conspirators and the motive behind the attack.
The February 25 Incident
The firing took place on the night of February 25 at approximately 10:15 pm in the Kashmiri Gate area of North Delhi. Advocate Deepak Khatri was returning along with his associates from the Marghat Wale Baba Temple when three assailants on a scooter reportedly fired multiple rounds at their car.
There were five occupants in the vehicle at the time of the attack. The driver, identified as Rishabh, displayed presence of mind and diverted the car towards Civil Lines, which police say helped avert a greater tragedy. However, one of the passengers, Sandeep, who was seated in the rear, sustained a bullet injury to his shoulder.
Probe Continues
Police officials described the arrest as a major success in the case, adding that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the conspiracy. Investigators are also examining the broader criminal network and possible gang rivalry angles linked to the attack.
