Samsung has taken a major step forward in artificial intelligence by adding Perplexity AI to its Galaxy AI ecosystem. With this update, users of the upcoming Galaxy S26 smartphones will be able to activate the new AI assistant using the voice command “Hey Plex.”
This integration reflects Samsung’s ambitious multi-agent AI strategy, designed to make smartphone intelligence more flexible, task-oriented, and user-driven than ever before.
Galaxy AI Evolves Into a Multi-Agent System
Samsung has confirmed that Galaxy AI is moving beyond a single-assistant model. With Perplexity joining the ecosystem, users will be able to rely on multiple AI agents working together. Galaxy AI will now operate alongside Bixby and Google Gemini, allowing users to choose the best AI tool for each task.
According to Samsung, this approach will deliver faster responses, smarter recommendations, and greater control—especially for complex or research-heavy tasks.
Deep System Integration for a Seamless Experience
Unlike a standalone app, Perplexity will be integrated directly at the system level. Samsung says the AI assistant will have access to core apps such as Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminders, and Calendar. Support for select third-party apps is also expected, though details have not yet been revealed.
This deep integration is intended to create a unified AI experience across the device, allowing users to complete tasks smoothly without switching between multiple apps.
Big AI Reveal Expected at Galaxy Unpacked
Samsung has announced that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on February 25, 2026, in San Francisco. The event is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 lineup, including the S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra.
In addition to AI upgrades, the new series is rumored to feature enhancements such as a privacy-focused display and deeper on-device intelligence. The event will be livestreamed globally on Samsung’s official website, newsroom, and YouTube channel at 11:30 PM IST.
