Fatehpur: A shocking murder case from Fatehpur has exposed a chilling conspiracy involving betrayal, forbidden relationships, and a hired killer. Police say a woman allegedly planned the murder of her husband after he objected to her relationship with another woman, hiring a contract killer for ₹60,000 to eliminate him.

The case pertains to the murder of Sumer in the Asothar police station area. During the investigation, police ruled out robbery or old enmity, stating that the crime was allegedly committed to remove an obstacle in a same-sex relationship. According to officials, Sumer’s wife, Renu Devi, had been in a close relationship with her friend Malti Devi for around one and a half years. Malti, who had been married three times earlier, was living separately with one child.

Police said the two women wanted to live together. When Sumer came to know about the relationship, he strongly objected and allegedly stopped Renu from meeting Malti, which led to growing tension at home.

Murder plot planned near a tubewell

Disclosing details of the case, Superintendent of Police Anup Kumar Singh said that the two women allegedly decided to eliminate Sumer after considering him a hurdle in their relationship. Renu reportedly contacted Jitendra Gupta, an e-rickshaw driver known to her, and struck a deal to get her husband killed for ₹60,000.

As per the police version, the accused lured Sumer to a tubewell, where five people surrounded him. He was first strangled with a rope and later his throat was slit with a knife, killing him on the spot.

Three arrested, two accused absconding

Police have arrested Renu Devi, Malti Devi, and the alleged shooter Raju Sonkar. However, the key conspirator Jitendra Gupta and his associate Ramprakash alias Maddu are still absconding. Police teams have been formed and raids are underway to trace and arrest the remaining accused.

The case has sent shockwaves across the district, highlighting how a personal relationship dispute escalated into a brutal, premeditated murder.
