Rohtas: Doctor Allegedly Drunk While Treating Commissioner’s Wife, Show-Cause Notice Issued

A shocking incident has come to light from Rohtas, where a doctor allegedly arrived in an intoxicated state to treat the wife of a senior administrative officer. Following the incident, the district administration took immediate action and issued a show-cause notice to the doctor.

According to reports, the wife of the Patna Division Commissioner had visited the famous Maa Mundeshwari Temple along with her mother on Wednesday. While returning from the temple, a thorn pricked her foot in a hilly area, and a medical team was called to provide first aid.

Allegations of Doctor Being Intoxicated

Dr. Asit Ranjan, acting Deputy Superintendent of the Sadar Hospital, reportedly reached the spot to remove the thorn and provide treatment. However, during the process, people present at the scene noticed unusual behavior and speech from the doctor.

The commissioner’s wife reportedly suspected that the doctor might be under the influence of alcohol and informed her husband about the situation. The matter was then brought to the attention of the district administration.

Administration Orders Inquiry

After receiving the complaint, the administration took the issue seriously. On the instructions of the District Magistrate, the doctor was asked to appear at the Civil Surgeon’s office for an alcohol test.

Sources said the doctor remained at the office for some time but later left the premises in his car citing certain reasons. It is now being reported that authorities may collect his sample for further testing as part of the investigation.

Previous Controversies

According to reports, the doctor has previously faced allegations of consuming alcohol while on duty. There have also been instances in the past where police reportedly took action and imposed fines related to similar accusations.

The Civil Surgeon stated that a written explanation has been sought from Dr. Asit Ranjan. If his response is found unsatisfactory, departmental action will be taken according to health department rules.

Doctor Denies Allegations

Meanwhile, Dr. Asit Ranjan has denied all allegations against him. He stated that he was posted at the trauma center at the time and had waited for a long time for the sampling team to arrive. According to him, when the team did not show up, he eventually left the office.

The administration is currently reviewing the matter, and further action will depend on the outcome of the inquiry.
