Officials are checking such cards as some beneficiaries may have obtained ration cards to avail benefits of other government welfare schemes, while they are not getting regular grains from the PDS system.

The government wants to identify inactive or potentially ineligible cards and remove them from the active beneficiary list. This aims to ensure that ration benefits reach the families who truly need them.

What should you do before September 21st?

If your ration card falls in the inactive category and you want to keep it active, then you should go to your nearest PDS shop before 21st September and collect your eligible ration.

Recharging your rations on time can help keep your card active. Failure to collect the required rations will result in your card being deactivated starting October 1st.

If the beneficiary is unsure about the status of his/her ration card, he/she should also check with his/her local PDS dealer or State Food Department.

You can get another chance through e-KYC.
Even if the ration card gets deactivated from October 1, the beneficiary can get another chance to restore it.

According to the information provided, eligible cardholders will have time from October 1 to January 1, 2027, to complete the required e-KYC process.

During this time, verification can be performed in the field. If the beneficiary's details are found to be correct and the verification is successfully completed, the ration card can be reactivated.
