Ramayana: Will Christopher Nolan Join Ranbir Kapoor’s Mega Project?

Speculation is mounting around the ambitious big-budget film Ramayana, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor and reportedly mounted on a massive scale. The actor, who is currently juggling multiple high-profile projects, is set to portray Lord Rama in the mythological epic, which is slated for a Diwali release.

Apart from Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor also has Love & War with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the pipeline, while work on Animal Park is expected to begin in 2027.

Star-Studded Cast and Massive Scale

The film boasts an ensemble cast featuring:

  • Sai Pallavi as Sita

  • Yash as Ravana

  • Sunny Deol as Hanuman

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is reportedly being mounted on an unprecedented scale and is expected to release in IMAX format.

Christopher Nolan’s Reported Involvement

Recent reports circulating online claim that Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan has been approached to oversee key technical aspects of the film, including editing, visual effects (VFX), and sound design. It is further suggested that he may help approve the final cut of the film.

Additionally, celebrated cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema is reportedly being considered to handle cinematography and possibly supervise colour grading. Hoytema is known for his collaborations with Nolan on visually spectacular films.

Reports also suggest that editor Jennifer Lame, who worked on Oppenheimer, may be associated with the project under Nolan’s supervision.

Global Talent and IMAX Vision

Music maestros A. R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer are also said to be linked with the film, along with Hollywood producer Charles Roven. If confirmed, this would mark a rare collaboration of multiple Academy Award-winning talents on an Indian mythological project.

According to reports, a 72-day schedule is being planned from August to October, during which major post-production work will take place. The film is reportedly being designed specifically for IMAX screens — a format closely associated with Nolan’s filmmaking style.

No Official Confirmation Yet

Despite the strong buzz and widespread speculation, the makers have not issued any official confirmation regarding Christopher Nolan or Hoyte van Hoytema’s involvement.
