Every project of Prabhas garners massive anticipation. With sequels to blockbuster hits and several fresh high-scale projects lined up, fans eagerly await his next big-screen appearance. However, the actor hasn’t been seen in a full-fledged role since ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. While he may appear in cameos, his lead films continue to face repeated delays.
His much-talked-about romantic entertainer ‘The Raja Saab’ is reportedly ready, but its release has been postponed multiple times. Meanwhile, updates about the sequel to his ₹1000-crore sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD have left fans concerned.
Too Many Films in Hand
Prabhas’s packed schedule seems to be creating a bottleneck. His lineup includes ‘The Raja Saab,’ ‘Spirit,’ ‘Fauji,’ ‘Salaar 2,’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD Part 2.’ At present, he is shooting for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit’, which is already creating buzz.
What Director Nag Ashwin Revealed
Recently, filmmaker Nag Ashwin appeared on a podcast, where he spoke about the status of Kalki 2898 AD Part 2. He admitted that the film is much bigger in scale than the first part, with more complex pre-visualized sequences and large-scale action.
The director explained that bringing all the actors together is a challenge since each one has packed schedules. While fans are expecting an early update, Ashwin revealed that the sequel might take two to three more years to complete.
Prabhas and Deepika Behind the Delay?
Industry buzz suggests that the film is being pushed back mainly because of Prabhas’s multiple commitments. With so many projects in hand, it is difficult to align his dates for the shoot.
On the other hand, Deepika Padukone, who plays a key role in Kalki, is also juggling multiple films. She has reportedly allotted 100 days for Allu Arjun’s next project, before which she will shoot for Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘King’. Post that, her focus will shift to ‘Pathaan 2’ and then Kalki Part 2. This tight schedule is expected to further delay production.
Why Fans Are Worried
Kalki 2898 AD was a game-changer at the global box office, grossing over ₹1000 crore worldwide. With such massive success, expectations from the sequel are sky-high. But a delay of 2–3 years could test the patience of fans eagerly waiting to see where the futuristic saga goes next.
For now, the question remains: Will Prabhas and Deepika’s busy calendars slow down the momentum of one of India’s biggest film franchises?
